Letter and tips from Infoseek
Here’s part of a letter sent by an InfoSeek representative in reply to one of our customers. The following excerpts contain new tips for InfoSeek:
* You should list keywords separately in your meta keyword tag delimited by commas rather than grouping words together in phrases. Exception noted: Proper names can be grouped together.
Note: According to D. Whitworth at InfoSeek, you’ll still want to keep phrases together in the body area and meta description tag, but NOT in the meta keyword tag.
* Use lower case only in the meta keyword tag.
The following tips offered by Mr. Whitworth were the same as we’ve reported in the past or were outlined on Infoseek’s site:
* Do not use meta refresh tags since those pages will be ignored.
* Do not use text that is the same color as the background since you can be penalized or banned for "hiding" keywords on your page in Infoseek.
