NetIQ acquires WebPosition

If you haven't already heard the news, earlier this month the WebTrends business unit of NetIQ, acquired the WebPosition business and product line along with the FirstPlace Software brand. What makes this so exciting is the combination of WebPosition , the leading search engine optimization tool, and WebTrends, the leading Web Analytics product. This means that in the future, the strengths of both product lines and businesses can be leveraged to give the consumer greater value, greater integration, and a more robust feature set than has ever been available before.
For those of you unfamiliar with WebTrends, its products and services offer sophisticated Web analytics features designed to analyze web site activity, visitor traffic and paths, revenues, campaign effectiveness, and most importantly, ROI (Return On Investment) from web initiatives. In other words, WebTrends gives you a whole suite of tools designed to help your business maximize its profits. Besides their WebPosition acquisition, WebTrends also announced their biggest upgrade in years, version 7, at the NetConnect Conference in Orlando April 5th.
Since the announcement, I've received a number of congratulatory e-mails and phone calls, which were very nice to receive. We even had some loyal customers concerned whether any of us would be losing our jobs! Fortunately, nobody has been laid off from the acquisition, and we are focused on continued growth. In fact, I'm very excited about being able to leverage the greater resources available at NetIQ to help WebPosition reach its fullest potential.
