WebPosition Gold 3.0 Available: Now easier to use, WordTracker integration, and more.
By Brent Winters
It has definitely been a busy month beginning August 2nd with the successful release of WebPosition Gold 3 at Search Engine Strategies in San Jose. WebPosition Gold 3 has been over two years in the making, easily packing in enough features for two full upgrades.
Consequently, our business has been booming with new WebPosition orders and upgrades in August. In fact, we had so much activity that I was forced to push back this month's issue to the end of the month to give us a chance to catch our breath. If our biggest upgrade since 1997 wasn't enough to keep things hopping here in Orlando, Hurricane Charley rolled right across Central Florida on, as luck would have it, Friday the 13th.
Today, the area looks more like a war zone than the country's most popular tourist destination. There are trees and signs down everywhere you look. We had widespread power outages, and loss of phone, cable, and water services. Roofs were torn off of buildings, including my children's elementary school. This was followed by backed up sewage systems, intermittent Internet outages, and shortages of gasoline and other products we tend to take for granted. Fortunately, no one I knew was injured from the storm, so things could have been much worse.
Also on the brighter side, the storm failed to put a damper on WebPosition Gold 3's explosive popularity. My inbox has been flooded with positive comments about how version 3 is making search engine marketing much easier and more effective. In particular, I've received a number of compliments regarding the new integration with Wordtracker, the industry's most respected keyword research tool. Version 3 also combines exclusive integration features for users of WebTrends, the leading Web Analytics tool. The combination of the three market leaders: WebPosition, WordTracker, and WebTrends is one that is truly hard to beat.
Those familiar with WebPosition will be happy to see an improved, revamped user interface. There's also support for over 200 global and regional search engines, including the popular shopping engine, Froogle. You'll find more reports in version 3, including enhanced reports for both paid and organic search, each now sporting new, professional designs from which to choose. Support for pay-per-click engines like Overture, Findwhat, Adwords, and others has also been expanded and enhanced. I could easily devote an entire newsletter to discussing the benefits of these new features.
Dozens of timesaving functions have been crafted into the product including speedier Page Critic analysis, enhanced scheduling, and an array of shortcuts and quick access menus. There's even a new Mission Manager that makes it easier to organize your tasks whether you manage one Web site or one hundred Web sites.
If all of this were not enough, WebPosition Gold 3 offers a Platinum upgrade, which integrates three new modules into the product for the first time: Link Defender, Meta Manager, and Code Defender. These tools help defend your Web site against broken links, bad meta and title tags, and competitive copying of your pages. There's also support for 25 more engines in Platinum versus Gold, making it an unbeatable value.
With version 3, we still update the Page Critic Service (previously called the Knowledge Base service) on a continuous basis. This service is designed to keep you on top of the latest breaking changes in the SEO environment and to advise you on how to respond to these changes to ensure you maintain an optimal position. The Page Critic Service is a must-have addition to WebPosition to ensure you gain and maintain a competitive edge.
