Ask.com Retires Jeeves and Teoma
by Richard DrawhornAsk.com has recently officially ended the reign of Jeeves, the butler who was the mascot logo on their search engine in the past. In addition, the Teoma.com brand owned by Ask.com is no longer with us as a search engine.
Yes, it's time to say farewell to your old friend Jeeves:
To the suprise of all present at Jeeves' farewell party at the recent SES conference in New York, poor Jeeves was attacked by a contingent of Stormtroopers and encased in Carbonite! After viewing these events, one thing became clear to me: the force was not strong with Jeeves:

This tragic event has been immortalized in digital video for your viewing pleasure at YouTube.com, and you can read about the party on Ask's Offical Blog.
AskJeeves no longer exists, and the search engine is now simply:
The engine's new look also features enhanced functionality, with a navigation bar that makes searches for images, news, maps, local search, and more available. Take a look for yourself at Ask.com.
In the past, Teoma.com was a unique online search engine separate from AskJeeves (even though Ask bought Teoma in 2001). Recently, however, Ask has decided to retire Teoma as a separate search engine, and you will find that attempts to visit Teoma.com are redirected to Ask.com instead. It will be interesting to see if this move to focus their efforts on a single search engine may enable Ask to improve their search share over time.
