With SES London right behind us, Wordtracker has just announced a United Kingdom based research database. Wordtracker, has always been a prime research tool for website designers world wide and this new feature further cements their usefulness to those in the UK. For those who are in the process of creating new content for their website Wordtracker is a must have tool as it identifies the best keywords for your websites pages. These keywords are the basic pieces that you will use to create your website content.

Designers in the United Kingdom and those whose livelihood depend on the United Kingdom will benefit from this UK based research database. This database provides a deeper understanding of the UK keyword usage patterns and enables design companies to fine tuning the content of their sites. The targeting of UK keywords will provide improved ROI opportunities for UK focused campaigns.

This prompts us with a question of where does this data come from anyway?

The new service is based on a number of agreements to acquire anonymous data from UK internet service providers. This data goes through a rigorous filtering process to eliminate spam and robotic queries before being added to the Wordtracker database.

The new UK based keyword service will be incorporated into the existing researcher database and you will be able to choose from either Global or UK only search terms. If you already have a Wordtracker account, you will automatically have access to the new keyword research.

To use this new portion of Wordtracker log into your account and select the "keyword researcher" tool. Once you enter this area you will be able to enter your keywords, and select from the US or UK options available via a drop down menu. Additionally if you choose to use the advanced search functionality you will continue to have an array of research focusing filters. These filters allow you to look at exact match, keywords in any order, case sensitive searches, etc.

You are also able to additionally focus your searches by selecting only a specific engine(s) from their supported list of Google, Yahoo, or MSN.

The new UK options supports Google, Yahoo, and MSN searches.

As in the past the use of the KEI metric is the basic for decision making, the higher the KEI the better.

KEI data is tracked in this new UK database.

In an email from Andy Mindel, Co-founder of Wordtracker, he had this to say: "Our emphasis has always been to provide quality data and that will continue. 2007 will see some significant developments at Wordtracker with the database software being completely re-written and new features added"

The Wordtracker blog, Andy's comments, and other conversations on this subject has created interest in other potential enhancements to the Wordtracker service. The addition of UK based keyword research could point toward support of additional languages, and perhaps greater localization in the future. While Wordtracker currently enjoys the title of "market leader" in most English speaking markets, diversification into other keyword/language markets could help them to bring their expertise into many under served markets.

For those who have yet to discover the importance of keyword research and have a desire to gain a deeper understanding, please read "how to research and utilize valuable search keywords" Additionally if you are new to keyword research or have not used one before, I recommend that you visit the Wordtracker website to learn more about their service and try out their free trial.

Cheers
Curtis
