Apply To Try the Microsoft Webmaster Portal
By Scott Goodyear
Have you been using the tools at Google's Webmaster Central site? Microsoft is now beta testing a competitive service called the Microsoft Webmaster Portal. According to their blog post, they'll offer submission, spider, and site map resources to help you with your MSN/Live Search SEO needs.
If you are interested in beta testing their new service, they ask that you "send a mail to lswmp@microsoft.com to apply!".
While not every one will get in on their beta program, it seems likely that this program will eventually open up to all web masters.
It will be interesting to see what differences there are between this, Google's own webmaster program, and Yahoo's enhanced Site Explorer program. Will there be any tie in with http://sitemaps.org/ (which is a joint venture by Microsoft, Yahoo!, and Google)? Will there be any new robot commands to come from this service? Will this tie into other MSN services like Hotmail, their Live Office program, adCenter, or other services? Their promise of "New content and community resources" is full of possibilities.
